Want some gardening inspiration? Had trouble getting a good crop of vegetables or harvest from your fruit trees? Want to get the kids out into the garden and learning where their food comes from? Then save the date for the Ballarat Edible Gardens Trail.

The Ballarat Edible Gardens Trail is a self-guided exploration of local public and private fruit and vegetable gardens, held over the weekend of 15-16 March 2025. The Trail is hosted by the Ballarat Local Food Coalition, with the aim of sharing knowledge about food gardening, networking local gardeners and providing information to people interested in starting a food garden.

Tickets can be purchased on the website, or contact ballaratediblegardens@gmail.com. All ticketholders will be provided with a wristband and map to gardens prior to the event. Any profits from the event will be donated to the Ballarat Foundation Feed Ballarat Appeal.

Any community members, organisations or schools who would like to register their garden, please complete the Garden Host form on the website or contact organisers at ballaratediblegardens@gmail.com.

Across Victoria’s Midwest, we acknowledge that we travel across the ancient landscapes of many First Peoples communities. These lands have been nurtured and cared for over tens of thousands of years and we respect the work of Traditional Custodians for their ongoing care and protection.

We recognise the past injustices against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in this country. As our knowledge grows, we hope that we can learn from their resilience and creativity that has guided them for over 60,000 years. As we invite people to visit and explore Victoria’s Midwest, we ask that alongside us, you also grow to respect the stories, living culture and connection to Country of the Ancestors and Elders of our First Peoples.
