Performing as part of the Christmas in Ballarat 2025 entertainment programme are The Hardies Hillbillies.

The Hardies Hillbillies are a four-piece string band that plays old time music distilled from the mountain dew that forms on the slopes of Hardies Hill Volcano where blackberry juice, turpentine, banjos and fiddles are squeezed from local stills and combine to bring the Appalachian mountains directly to your eardrums!

A mighty fine blend of old timey music as smoky and genuine as campfire roasted pig trotters bringin' a sound that is equal parts twangy, foot stomping and heart rending in its beauty and simplicity.

Spine tingling vocal harmonies and foot stomping fiddle tunes will transport you to a time when music had soul and enlighten you to life's simple truth; that everything sounds better with a fiddle, a dobro, an old upright Bass and a banjo.

Across Victoria’s Midwest, we acknowledge that we travel across the ancient landscapes of many First Peoples communities. These lands have been nurtured and cared for over tens of thousands of years and we respect the work of Traditional Custodians for their ongoing care and protection.

We recognise the past injustices against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in this country. As our knowledge grows, we hope that we can learn from their resilience and creativity that has guided them for over 60,000 years. As we invite people to visit and explore Victoria’s Midwest, we ask that alongside us, you also grow to respect the stories, living culture and connection to Country of the Ancestors and Elders of our First Peoples.
