Federation University Road National Championships

The Federation University Road National Championships are back.

Beginning with time trials at Federation University’s Mt Helen Campus, Ballarat’s CBD will then host the criterium races on Friday evening, where spectators can get up close to Australia’s top cyclists as they fly along Sturt Street.

On the weekend, the fan-favourite live site will return to Mount Buninyong after several years of absence. With food and drink, sponsor stalls and a big screen, it will be the best place to soak up the atmosphere of Ballarat’s last road championships. Events are free to attend.

This is Australia’s most prestigious road cycling event, in which the best male and female elite, junior and para cyclists will compete for the coveted title of national champion over the criterium, time trial and road race disciplines.

Experience a true celebration of Australian cycling, plus, some of the amazing cafes, bars and restaurants in the region, in between all the racing action.

Across Victoria’s Midwest, we acknowledge that we travel across the ancient landscapes of many First Peoples communities.

These lands have been nurtured and cared for over tens of thousands of years and we respect the work of Traditional Custodians for their ongoing care and protection.

We recognise the past injustices against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in this country. As our knowledge grows, we hope that we can learn from their resilience and creativity that has guided them for over 60,000 years.

As we invite people to visit and explore Victoria’s Midwest, we ask that alongside us, you also grow to respect the stories, living culture and connection to Country of the Ancestors and Elders of our First Peoples.
