The Avoca is a highly awarded gastropub in the small town of Avoca in the Pyrenees winemaking region of western Victoria, situated within a beautifully restored country hotel dating from the gold rush era of the 1860s.

They specialise in the use of quality local produce in their food and have a strong focus on the unique wines of the local and surrounding wine regions. The range of varietals grown in the Pyrenees, Grampians and Great Western and the different wine styles produced are second to none in this country and we are very privileged to be able to present so many of them for their customers.

Their drinks list is famous for the depth and breadth of its selection of local wines and also for its extraordinary beer list. The list has received Gourmet Traveller Wine magazine’s award for Australia’s Best Beer List every year since 2018 and is now inducted into the Hall of Fame. It has also received the Award for Excellence from Wine Spectator magazine in New York and a Two Star Rating and Jury Prize from Fine Wine magazine in London.

The Avoca is an essential stop for anyone wishing to experience dining at its finest while visiting the Pyrenees or Grampians. Bookings are strongly recommended on most Friday and Saturday nights and are absolutely essential on long weekends.

Across Victoria’s Midwest, we acknowledge that we travel across the ancient landscapes of many First Peoples communities. These lands have been nurtured and cared for over tens of thousands of years and we respect the work of Traditional Custodians for their ongoing care and protection.

We recognise the past injustices against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in this country. As our knowledge grows, we hope that we can learn from their resilience and creativity that has guided them for over 60,000 years. As we invite people to visit and explore Victoria’s Midwest, we ask that alongside us, you also grow to respect the stories, living culture and connection to Country of the Ancestors and Elders of our First Peoples.
