The Cyril Callister Museum will proudly launch the inaugural Beaufort Summer Fest in January—a vibrant new celebration of Australia, its culture and its community. Thanks to the generous funding from the National Australia Day Council the event is free for the community and is in association with the Central Highlands Grower’s and Producers event Forage and Feast.

Jenna Oldaker (of Murrup Art), a Wadawurrung Traditional Owner, is hosting an art workshop for youth and Wadawurrung Nursey is coming along to showcase local Australian bush tucker plants. There will also be Vegemite playdough workshops, Paint With Vegemite workshops, facepainting and Vegemite Portrait sittings by Pyrenees artist – Dawn Lim.

The festival will also feature local producers, among them Mrs. Baker’s Stillhouse, Kittelty’s Cakes, and Red Duck Brewery. A variety of food trucks baked goods by CWA Beaufort and the toe-tapping sounds of Mojave Echo and Mitchell Morrison will round off the afternoon.

Don’t miss out on this first time, local and free community event!

Across Victoria’s Midwest, we acknowledge that we travel across the ancient landscapes of many First Peoples communities. These lands have been nurtured and cared for over tens of thousands of years and we respect the work of Traditional Custodians for their ongoing care and protection.

We recognise the past injustices against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in this country. As our knowledge grows, we hope that we can learn from their resilience and creativity that has guided them for over 60,000 years. As we invite people to visit and explore Victoria’s Midwest, we ask that alongside us, you also grow to respect the stories, living culture and connection to Country of the Ancestors and Elders of our First Peoples.
