WIN ONE OF 5 FAMILY PASSES TO ‘LIGHTING THE DARK’ AT HER MAJESTY’S THEATRE

For your chance to WIN one of 5 family passes to Lighting the Dark on Saturday 14 March 2026 at Her Majesty’s Theatre valued at $125 each, simply sign up to the Ballarat In The Know email database between now and 4pm on Wednesday 11 March, 2026.

About the show:

Lighting the Dark is a bold new work by Chris Dyke, a Kaurna (Adelaide) based dancer and choreographer living with Down syndrome.

The embodiment of love itself, Chris emanates compassion, transcending limitations and inviting us all into his radiant embrace.

Yet, amidst his rich internal landscape of dreams and boundless imagination, the world often fails to see beyond the cover of the book – a book that if we dared to open, would reveal a radical inspiration, creative brilliance, hope and love.

With the mesmerising Dancenorth Ensemble by his side, Chris leads the way, transforming the stage into a portal where love and light illuminate the darkness.
Inspired by the iconic figures of Banksy, David Bowie and Freddie Mercury, Chris finds kinship in their revolutionary spirit, each serving as a reflection of his own vision.

Across Victoria’s Midwest, we acknowledge that we travel across the ancient landscapes of many First Peoples communities. These lands have been nurtured and cared for over tens of thousands of years and we respect the work of Traditional Custodians for their ongoing care and protection.

We recognise the past injustices against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in this country. As our knowledge grows, we hope that we can learn from their resilience and creativity that has guided them for over 60,000 years. As we invite people to visit and explore Victoria’s Midwest, we ask that alongside us, you also grow to respect the stories, living culture and connection to Country of the Ancestors and Elders of our First Peoples.
