Founded in Clunes in 1939, Interknit|Branberry stands as Victoria’s last rural commercial knitting mill. Their knits are crafted on-site, transforming a cone of yarn (or several cones) into a finished jumper or blanket.

With over 24 specialised knitting machines and a fully equipped sewing room, Interknit|Branberry produces everything from wool fashion, baby and homewares to sporting club wear, school wear and even fire-retardant high-visibility safety jumpers.

Their shop, open six days a week, offers a variety of genuine Made in Ballarat Australian merino wool gifts and souvenirs, along with a wide range of fashion jumpers from their own brands: Ballarat Gold, WorkSmart, Outdoor, Trakker and Interknit|Branberry. They also offer custom personalised baby blankets and throws as well as garment decoration services (including embroidery and garment printing), for jobs big and small. The shop provides free off-street parking, toilet facilities, and is wheelchair and pram friendly. A small toy corner keeps children entertained while adults browse.

The shop fronts the factory where, during the week, skilled staff prepare knitwear orders.

Visit them and you might find a bargain factory second, meet the owners, or even catch a glimpse of the manufacturing process.

Tours are available upon request. Please ensure all attendees wear enclosed footwear at all times.

Stay In the Know

Across Victoria’s Midwest, we acknowledge that we travel across the ancient landscapes of many First Peoples communities. These lands have been nurtured and cared for over tens of thousands of years and we respect the work of Traditional Custodians for their ongoing care and protection.

We recognise the past injustices against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in this country. As our knowledge grows, we hope that we can learn from their resilience and creativity that has guided them for over 60,000 years. As we invite people to visit and explore Victoria’s Midwest, we ask that alongside us, you also grow to respect the stories, living culture and connection to Country of the Ancestors and Elders of our First Peoples.
