Fire-lit landscapes, unique light installations and smoky food will be at the heart of Sovereign Hill's new after-dark festival this spring.
The inaugural Food, Fire & Light Festival will unfold on:

- Saturday 12 October
- Friday 18 October
- Saturday 19 October
From 5pm-10pm, visitors will embark on an immersive sensory journey under Ballarat’s star-lit sky.
"This event is designed for the adventurous and the inquisitive, inviting you to explore vibrant cultural experiences in unexpected and exhilarating settings,” said Sovereign Hill Museums Association CEO Sara Quon.
Food, Fire & Light highlights
- Be greeted by a Welcome to Country in Sovereign Hill's brand new Wadawurrung Cultural Precinct with sculptural displays and captivating storytelling
- Walk through a tunnel of fire – crafted by artist Richard Thomas using natural materials and salvaged items – to a field bathed in thousands of lights dancing in time to music
- Dance the night away with special guest DJ YO! MAFIA
- Feast straight from the fire as master butcher Ralf Fink and his team at Oakwood Smallgoods serve up smoky-flavoured meats chargrilled over open coals
- Dine out on tasty s’mores and rich caramelised crème brulé cooked over hot flames with rising culinary star Morgan Hipworth
- Ballarat favourite Carboni’s will dish up the ultimate cheese-on-cheese affair – cacio e pepe tossed in a wheel of melted parmigiano reggiano
- Make you way to the many pop-up bars for mulled wine and smoky cocktails
- Be mesmerised by roving fire performers and delight in waterfall pyrotechnics cascading from the iconic Poppet Head gantry
- Enjoy a captivating gold pour experience and sip on gin cocktails speckled with gold
- Step into a silent cinema with exclusive film content
- Peek into the fire-driven industrial practices of the 1850s with hot tyring demonstrations
