Are you a culture-loving curious type? The kind who savours the details, respects the craft and is always chasing the thrill of discovering something new?

If that sounds like you, the brand‑new Ballarat Craft + Design Week (1–10 May) is calling your name.

This inaugural celebration brings together makers, designers, manufacturers and producers in a rich program exploring textiles, memory and restorative practices - all through meaningful collaborations.

Get ready to uncover Ballarat’s creative pulse through hands-on workshops, thought‑provoking talks, exhibitions, open studios, retail experiences and public installations just begging to be touched, explored and discovered.

Render of the planned installation - Under The Stars, a collaborative work between Kerith Holmes, Jessica Larm and Jordy Bos. This is a work which examines the weight and fragility of democracy, comment on the Eureka Flag and explores our relationship with the stars that guide us.

At the heart of it all is Bound - a large-scale exhibition set inside the iconic Ballarat Mining Exchange.

Imagine this: five rooms, five immersive experiences, five inspired artistic collaborations.

Dive into creative journeys of sound, touch, light and shadow across the weekends of 2–3 May and 9–10 May.

Across Victoria’s Midwest, we acknowledge that we travel across the ancient landscapes of many First Peoples communities. These lands have been nurtured and cared for over tens of thousands of years and we respect the work of Traditional Custodians for their ongoing care and protection.

We recognise the past injustices against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in this country. As our knowledge grows, we hope that we can learn from their resilience and creativity that has guided them for over 60,000 years. As we invite people to visit and explore Victoria’s Midwest, we ask that alongside us, you also grow to respect the stories, living culture and connection to Country of the Ancestors and Elders of our First Peoples.
