Performing as part of the Christmas in Ballarat 2025 entertainment programme are The City of Ballarat Municipal Brass Band.

We are a 30 piece, traditional Brass Band playing both brass instruments, including cornets, trombones, basses and percussion and proud winners of the 2025 National Band Championship in D-Grade.

We are a local group that has a rich heritage of providing music and entertainment to the citizens of Ballarat for over 130 years. You can often hear us out and about, at concerts in Ballarat, at the Ballarat Botanical Gardens, playing Christmas Carols along Sturt Street, bugling at our local ANZAC day services and even as an annual fixture at the Meredith Music Festival.

We are a non for-profit group, with multiple bands, including our core band, our 'Vintage' Brass Band and our Development Band - in which we provide free instruments and tuition to anyone wanting to learn a brass instrument!) and members ranging from 8-80 years of age!

We present a range of music from traditional marches, hymns and orchestral classics, to modern popular and movie music.

Across Victoria’s Midwest, we acknowledge that we travel across the ancient landscapes of many First Peoples communities. These lands have been nurtured and cared for over tens of thousands of years and we respect the work of Traditional Custodians for their ongoing care and protection.

We recognise the past injustices against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in this country. As our knowledge grows, we hope that we can learn from their resilience and creativity that has guided them for over 60,000 years. As we invite people to visit and explore Victoria’s Midwest, we ask that alongside us, you also grow to respect the stories, living culture and connection to Country of the Ancestors and Elders of our First Peoples.
