Last Sunday Staged Play Readings — New Voices on Stage presented by the Creswick Theatre Company.

Discover the power of new and rediscovered plays in an engaging and intimate setting. Creswick Theatre Company proudly presents a monthly series of staged play readings held on the last Sunday of each month.

Join in as their ensemble of actors brings compelling scripts to life through expressive readings and minimal staging — putting the spotlight on bold storytelling and fresh voices.

Their staged play reading afternoons will present a script—either a new work or a classic piece—in a simple, text-focused format without the full production elements of costumes, sets, or extensive blocking. The emphasis is on the words, characters, and story rather than visual spectacle. Local actors will bring the scripts to life through expressive readings and minimal staging, allowing the words and characters to take centre stage.

Experience local talent and innovative stories. Every month brings a new story to the stage.

Featured readers are Chantal Amber, Elly Krieg and Tim Harris.

Across Victoria’s Midwest, we acknowledge that we travel across the ancient landscapes of many First Peoples communities. These lands have been nurtured and cared for over tens of thousands of years and we respect the work of Traditional Custodians for their ongoing care and protection.

We recognise the past injustices against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in this country. As our knowledge grows, we hope that we can learn from their resilience and creativity that has guided them for over 60,000 years. As we invite people to visit and explore Victoria’s Midwest, we ask that alongside us, you also grow to respect the stories, living culture and connection to Country of the Ancestors and Elders of our First Peoples.
