Thinking of Place IV: Fleet, is a collaboration between eleven printmaking groups in a cross-cultural dialogue with the aim of creating eleven vessels, each in six parts. Linking together via the common motif of a ship or boat the works are imagined, emblematic or referencing an actual vessel as a powerful symbol of journey, transience, crossing boundaries, traversing spaces and fostering cultural connections. The full fleet of vessels serves as a visual metaphor for diverse perspectives coming together to form a cohesive unit.
The works were created by sixty-six artists from across the globe including the Goldfields Printmakers and Melbourne Printmakers, North Island Printmakers and Otautahi Printmakers, Printmakers East to West, Flying Proa: Taotao Tasi, Funen Printmakers, Limerick Printmakers, +C4-, Canada West Studios, and Anatolian Printmakers.
Please join the Post Office Gallery for the exhibition opening celebration with Dr Jennifer Jones-O'Neill, Associate Lecturer, Monash University, on Friday 17 April at 5.30 PM. All welcome.
