The Ballarat Choral Society and Ballarat Voices will unite for What a Wonderful World, a vibrant afternoon of music celebrating the beauty of the natural world.
Under the direction of Helen Duggan and Lyndell Allen, the concert explores the changing seasons and the beauty of birds, forests, flowers, and landscapes through a rich and varied program of music. The Ballarat Choral Society will perform works by Australian composers alongside music by Felix Mendelssohn, Fanny Hensel, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Gustav Holst and Edward Elgar. Ballarat Voices will present a complementary selection of nature-inspired songs by Australian composers alongside other well-known composers and arrangers, including Benjamin Britten, Pink and Jerry Estes. The choirs join together for the timeless classic What a Wonderful World. Afternoon tea will be served following the concert.
Founded more than 120 years ago, the Ballarat Choral Society is one of Ballarat's longest-established cultural organisations, bringing singers and audiences together through a shared love of choral music. Ballarat Voices, established in 2022, is one of the youngest choirs in the Ballarat region. It includes students from Grades two to eight from schools stretching from Daisy Hill in the north to Shelford in the south. Together, the two choirs offer a celebration of music, nature and community that will appeal to audiences
of all ages.
